On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Girl Scouts is participating in the #GivingTuesday movement, a global call-to-action which harnesses the generosity of millions of people pledging their support for the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live.

Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri is excited to join this campaign as it’s an opportunity to ensure more girls in the region have access to the preeminent leadership development program in the world. Girl Scouts is the ultimate place and space for girls to take healthy risks, embark on new adventures and move boldly throughout the world, confident in her unique abilities and skills.

This Tuesday visit girlscoutsem.org/donate and donate $25 and give the gift of a Girl Scout membership to a girl who wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to participate. For those who want to give back in other ways, below is a list of volunteer roles essential in executing a full, positive and impactful experience to eastern Missouri Girl Scouts.

1. Girl Scout Robotics

Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri sponsors 92 FIRST® robotics teams, which is more than any other youth-serving organization in the region! That means, adult volunteers are always needed to serve in roles like coach, mentor, qualifier judge, score keeper, line attendant, field re-setter and score runner. No STEM-related experience is necessary to volunteer in any of these positions! For more information about the power of providing girls the resources to tackle topics like coding, programming and robotics reach out to Lauren Kornegay Dollar, Robotics Program Manager at lkornegaydollar@girlscoutsem.org.

2. The Empowerment Project

This one-of-a-kind program is offered only to Girl Scouts in high school and will take place from June 18-21, 2020. Each year, approximately 25 Girl Scouts spend this time together participating in hands-on group activities revolving around personal identity, branding and communication. The girls are joined by female community leaders throughout the weekend who provide an impactful mentoring experience by sharing their hard-won insights and remarkable leadership experiences. If you are interested in being one of these crucial female community leaders, please email Ally Rohl, Older Girl – Program Manager, at arohl@girlscoutsem.org.

3. Corporate Service Days at Girl Scout Camp

Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri maintains three camp properties in the region totaling more than 1,400 acres. As we have made a promise to our membership to never leave a girl indoors, it’s vital to keep these wooded acres clean, clear and safe. The Girl Scout Council offers organizations opportunities to come together as a team, united in their efforts to preserving and enhancing the campgrounds. By giving back through a service day at camp, you are helping facilitate truly incredible adventures for our deserving eastern Missouri Girl Scouts. To set up a corporate service day for your organization, contact Kathy Dabrowski, Chief Program Officer, at kdabrowski@girlscoutsem.org.

For many girls, the foundation of leadership begins with Girl Scouts. This #GivingTuesday, show our more than 40,000 eastern Missouri G.I.R.L.s that their big dreams are worth investing in!
