Girl Scouts Go: Run for the Cookies

On Thanksgiving Day, many individuals and families in eastern Missouri walk, sprint or run across finish lines. Afterward, they pile into their cars and head home to begin cooking and baking only to eventually fall into a satisfied (and guilt-free) food coma after the last piece of pumpkin pie has been served. For lots people in the region, participating in a Thanksgiving Day race has become a new tradition.

But there are some courageous people who lace up those running shoes and hit the pavement the day after Thanksgiving for a different kind of turkey trot—and this one has Girl Scout cookies.

Girl Scouts Go: Run for the Cookies

Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri is hosting its eighth annual Girl Scouts Go: Run for the Cookies on Saturday, November 30, 2019. Participants can sign up for either the 5K run/walk that starts at 8 am or the 1-mile run/walk that begins at 9 am. Everyone who registers for the event receives a commemorative 2019 Cookie-inspired medal, a t-shirt or a beanie. What sets this race apart from the dozens of turkey and Santa-themed races in the area is the all-you-can-eat Girl Scout cookie buffet waiting for the participants when they triumphantly cross the finish line.

After you’ve had your fill of Thin Mints®, Tagalongs® and hot chocolate, join the post-race party featuring activities like a rock-climbing wall and inflatables!

Season of Giving

As giving back is at the heart of Girl Scouting, event participants have an opportunity to donate a toy (or two or three) to Toys for Tots. Those who do bring a new toy enjoy access to the Girl Scout Council’s VIP warming center which includes a light breakfast, coffee and juice.
